At the tender age of 8, Uthman Sudais was orphaned after losing his parents due to the war and violence in Northern Uganda in 1993. Uthman understands first hand the disadvantages and traumas of an uncertain future and has dedicated his life to making a difference, rebuilding the impoverished communities in Uganda.
What is his dream? Growing up in North Uganda, Uthman vividly remembers traveling 20 km to and from his village barefoot on the scorching hot ground to collect water. Uthman carried out this trip multiple times a day and was paid 41 cents per day. Uthman endured this pain until he was able to save up for a pair of shoes to protect his feet from the hot sun costing $1.40. This is one of the many hardships that Uthman faced.
Uthman’s upbringing and life experiences has fuelled a lifelong dream to provide communities in need with food, water, shelter, education and employment opportunities.
UDI is a not-for-profit organisation currently operating with sponsors and donations with no administration costs involved. We believe transparency is key, with all donations being utilised sustainably and directly to those in need. Accountability reports provided upon request. As a grassroots charitable organisation, all internal Uthman’s Dream team members are unpaid.
